Oh mine..it was so amazing..unbelievable. Standing on stage and signing autographs is really indeed an incredible experience. Before Saturday training, I always thought that being a trainer is simple..Get the slides, present on stage. But in Herbalife, this is beyond that. 10 minutes before my turn on stage, when I was watching Yen Li training on products, I started to become nervous. The realization of my responsibility starts to grow. I am training 400 distributors in Singapore on how to earn retail cash!!

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 19, 2009-- Over the past several decades, the United States has seen dramatic increases in the incidence of obesity. But the epidemic is not confined to this country; similar increases are being seen worldwide as other countries adopt Western high-calorie foods and a sedentary lifestyle.

Recent data from the National Statistics Office in Korea, for example, indicate that nearly a third of Koreans – about 10 million people – are overweight, with numbers increasing by about 400,000 annually.

Researchers at the Seoul National University Hospital in Korea recently reported that the use of meal replacements twice daily was an effective strategy for reducing body weight and body fat, and for improving indicators of obesity-related conditions.

The study, published in the February issue of the International Journal of Clinical Practice, followed 75 obese men and women with the metabolic syndrome - a cluster of factors including high blood pressure, a large waist measurement, elevated blood sugar and triglycerides, and low blood levels of ‘good’ HDL cholesterol - for a period of 12 weeks.

All subjects replaced two meals a day with liquid meal replacements (Herbalife Formula 1, Korean formula) but were randomly assigned to consume a diet of either a standard amount of protein – about 15 percent of total calories – or double the amount of protein from a higher protein plan.

At the end of 12 weeks, both groups lost weight and both groups lost weight in the belly area. But, in the subjects who followed the diet most strictly, the people in the high protein group lost more body fat (and less lean body mass) than the people consuming the standard amount of protein.

“These findings indicate that meal replacements are a very valuable strategy for losing weight and body fat,” said Belong Cho, M.D., Ph.D., of the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital and lead researcher on the study. “With the increasing incidence of overweight and obesity in Korea, there is a critical need to find ways to help individuals lose weight and decrease their risk of developing obesity-related disorders such the metabolic syndrome,” he added.

The incidence of the metabolic syndrome in Korea has increased from 18.6 percent to 23.6 percent between 1998 and 2001, paralleling similar increases – from 34.5 percent to 39 percent - over the same time period in the U.S. Dr. Cho added, “We have demonstrated the effectiveness of meal replacements for weight loss, and this approach could have far-reaching benefits in addressing obesity which has become a worldwide problem.”

Cho is a member of Herbalife’s Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB). The NAB is made up of leading experts around the world in the fields of nutrition and health who educate and train Herbalife independent distributors on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle.

The NAB is chaired by David Heber, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

My Trip in KL last week!

This is my journey in KL last week! For those who missed me, I spent 10 days in KL, which includes my new year celebration! Oh well, it is definitely a eye opener and fulfilling experience!

The journey started with a STS in PGRM on the first day, which I have 5 guests with me..yeah..and it was amazing, to see a Chinese STS filled with thousands of crazy, excited people!

Me, Mei Wan, Christina, Sophia, RogerI came all the way from Singapore to hear from this guy, Steven Jong.

Mei Wan is also excited to take "photo" with him.

I appreciated every single part of Steven's training. In this slide, the poem speaks from products to product results, the health, the business nature, power of duplication, powerful passive income etc..This is really the heart and soul of Herbalife!This is another meaning slide, which speaks volume on the importance of personal development.

The celebration for a new 2009!
This is the small team I am starting to build in KL. Good gracious, I never thought I can touch the life in people from different place. But watch it, I am growing, my team will start to grow, and all of us will go far!

& who says I spend my time holidaying in KL? Our life is about Herbalife. Play, work, play, work...I brought my downlines to a market (@SS15) and started our practice in walk and talk. It is definitely a good experience for Mei Wan and Sophia to start sharing with people and start doing wellness evaluation for the public. Good start!

We also spent our time visiting different Nutrition Clubs in Petaling Jaya , KL, & even Ipoh. In each trip, we learnt more about different individuals before stories and how Herbalife changed their life. For those "ignorant" fellows who always think that MLM companies like Herbalife is all about making money or "cheating" money, my advice to you is, ==> never judge things on the surface.

Angel and her mum's stories touched my heart. This was her before. So much overweight that she could hardly work because of the joint pain, and as a result, always have to sit on the sofa. Because of Herbalife, she took at least 3-4 shakes a day, cut down on her food intake, and lost over 10 KGs!Although she is not exactly skinny, but at one glance on her, we can tell that her health definitely improved tremendously! Will I be able to help grandma too? I hope that one day, I will..

& this is Angel. Before Herbalife, her health was so much in jeopardy. She is one of the many people who believed in taking panadols and medicine to subdue their problems, but as a result her health was in real bad shape. When she finally understood about Herbalife Cellular Nutrition Concept, she TOOK 10 shakes a DAY!!!omg..She suffered so much of detoxification during the first 2 months, and even to the extent of having old wounds from car accident 8 years ago embedded deep inside her body surfacing out on the 2nd month!

But now, she is a different person. Look at her on the outmost left hand side. She really looked so different in real person.
We also visited Sher Lee's Nutrition Club in Wisma MPL..oh my god...it is so beautiful and nice..

Sher Lee is a very nice person. Although it is our first time knowing each other and speaking to her, she shared her story with the rest of us willingly and took good care of her guests. Really appreciated! Thank you!!

The last club we went to was at Ipoh..when we visited SSP.

The uncle beside me is the club owner in this Nutrition Club. He bought the whole shop and converted it into Nutrition Club. Like Lawrence, Herbalife is his part time business, as he has his construction business running at the same time. He do not need Herbalife to supplement his current income, but just like Lawrence, he loves the products and really hope to help more people to get more nutrition and improve their health. Kudos to him!

This trip is really a fruitful trip. Not only did I started launching my business and organisation in KL, it changed my perspective in people from KL, even the young people in our age. Unlike Singaporeans, they are less "protected" by the government, and some have to struggle to make ends meet. But as a result, they are much more matured and less naive than most Singaporeans are. Now, the more often I go up to Malaysia, the more impressed I am. Each trip, full of surprises. Now I cant wait to go to Spectacular 2009! in Times Square! Watch out for new posts!!

Clinical Study Shows Increased Protein Leads to Improvement in Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors

Obesity often goes hand-in-hand with the Metabolic Syndrome - a cluster of five factors that include high blood pressure, a large waist circumference, elevated blood sugar and triglycerides, and reduced blood levels of HDL cholesterol.

Weight reduction is one of the first lines of defense in treating the syndrome, and researchers from the University of Ulm, Germany, have found that increased amounts of protein in the diet lead to greater improvement in metabolic syndrome risk factors when compared to a standard level of protein.

The study, presented this weekend at the annual meeting of the Obesity Society in Phoenix, enrolled 110 overweight subjects with the metabolic syndrome who were randomly divided into two groups, and were followed for one year.

For the first three months - the weight loss phase - those in the high protein group were instructed to follow a diet that supplied about twice the protein obtained from a typical diet; they also replaced two meals a day with Herbalife's European Formula 1, a meal replacement shake. The other group was instructed to eat a standard amount of protein from an all-food diet.

For the remaining nine months of the study - the weight maintenance phase - everyone used one meal replacement shake a day as part of their meal plan, and both groups maintained the level of protein intake in the diet they had consumed during the previous three months.

Everyone lost weight after a year, but the high protein group lost more weight (nearly 25 pounds, compared with about 14 pounds for the standard protein group) and more body fat, and preserved lean body mass. More significant, however, was the finding that at the end of the study, 64 percent of those in the high protein group no longer met the criteria for the metabolic syndrome, compared with 41 percent who consumed the standard amount of protein.

"We knew that weight loss would improve risk factors for the metabolic syndrome," said Marion Flechtner-Mors, Ph.D., one of the researchers on the study and head of the Obesity Research Group at the University of Ulm, Germany, "but we found that more subjects showed improvement in these risk factors when we increased the protein in the diet."

Nearly 47 million Americans have the metabolic syndrome, and the numbers continue to grow - in parallel with the rise in the incidence of obesity. Flechtner-Mors added, "Effective interventions, such as the use of high protein meal replacements for weight loss, could improve the risk factors associated with the metabolic syndrome and affect the lives of millions of people."

Soy's Protein Weight Management Potential

A new review taking in animal, human populations, and clinical trials supports the potential role of soy protein to reduce cholesterol levels, and aid weight loss.

According to the review, published recently in Obesity Reviews, the ingredients also have the added benefits of boosting bone health and aiding overall cardiovascular health.

"Overall, the current data suggest that soy foods are as good as other protein sources for promoting weight loss and there is a suggestive body of evidence that soyfoods may confer additional benefits, but results must be carefully interpreted and additional evidence is needed before making firm conclusions concerning soyfoods and weight loss," wrote lead author Mark Cope from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Soy proteins and soy peptides have received attention for their hypolipidaemic and hypocholesterolaemic properties, as well as their ability to lower blood pressure, improve arterial compliance and endothelial function, insulin resistance and weight loss in obesity.

Over 300m adults are obese worldwide, according to latest statistics from the WHO and the International Obesity Task Force. About one-quarter of the US adult population is said to be obese, with rates in Western Europe on the rise although not yet at similar levels.

The review, including results from eight human studies, found that weight loss was equivalent and, in some cases, equal when using soy protein, dairy milk meal replacements, beef or pork at equal calorie levels.

Moreover, there was a suggestion that soy protein may decrease short-term appetite and calorie intake.

They also reviewed the evidence concerning soy isoflavones aiding diabetes by stopping fat tissue build up and enhancing fat breakdown. While some evidence does exist of improved blood glucose and insulin levels as a result of consuming a soy-based diet, the data to date if limited.

The review also supported reports of the cholesterol-lowering benefits of soy, and that soy may reduce bone loss in women.

Thailand Extravaganza Trip! Day 1!

Whoo..my trip in Bangkok started last friday, 25th July! It was an exciting trip for me, not because of Bangkok, but because of Extravaganza! I could still remembered my excitement when I took part in Asia Extravaganza 2007 last year in Singapore (if you have not know about Extravaganza 07, read this old post to find out more).

In this year Extravaganza, I went there with the expectations of learning new knowledge, knowing new friends and widening my social network, and went there to have a deeper understanding of myself, my "WHY".

The day started with my visit to Bangkok Distributor Centre with Malik, Jas and Zu!
I am so excited when I see the company! Btw, do you realise that they are at Tower B too?

Folks, this is my friend, Malik! If you are familiar with the soccer scene, you may recognise him. He is our Singapore No 1 referee, so dun pray pray! On the serious note, it is enlightening when we had our discussions, especially to find how much he wants to help people, as much as I do..& this is Impact Exhibition Centre, where Extravaganza is located!!

燕丽姐 was interviewed in CittaBella Team for her success in losing off her weight. Oh...yeah..I got Silver for my IPPT!!! Hit personal best for my 2.4km! I am so happy! Imagine this. A year ago, when I was back in reservist, and had not started with Herbalife products, my 2.4km run was always at the border passing line, around 12 mins 40 sec. Now, my 2.4km was 10 mins 48 secs!!!!!!!! Near to a 2 minutes improvement!!! Herbalife really make a big difference in my health and fitness!

The number of overweight and obese Americans is growing at an alarming rate and shows no sign of slowing down.

Last year, a nonprofit health organization conducted an obesity survey of all U.S. states comparing data from 2003-05 with statistics from 2004-06. The results were staggering.

The survey found obesity rates continued to rise in 31 of 50 states in 2006, according to Trust for America's Health. Not one state reported a decline.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, two out of three Americans are overweight, and almost one in five are obese.

As obesity-related health problems increase, businesses are hunting for profitable weight-loss solutions. Many are finding the answer in Herbalife's (NYSE:HLF - News) "Formula 1" diet shake mix.

The Los Angeles-based Herbalife is a global, multilevel marketing company that sells weight-control, nutritional and personal care products. Judging by its most recent quarterly results, there is big upside for its weight-management products.

In the fourth quarter, earnings rose 34% to 79 cents a share ex items. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had expected 73 cents.

Sales Increase

Revenue climbed 19% to $578.1 million, driven by double-digit growth in several of Herbalife's top countries. It was the 16th straight quarter of double-digit growth.

Full-year revenue increased 14% to $2.2 billion, from $1.89 billion in 2006. Weight-control products accounted for more than 60% of sales.

Nutritional supplements generated roughly 20% of top-line growth. Personal care and energy and fitness products also gained traction last year, rising 6.7% and 4.3%, respectively.

"This is a big, globally diverse multilevel seller that suffered some serious setbacks earlier this decade," said Douglas Lane, an analyst at Jefferies & Co. "But they have bounced back."

About 80% of the company's sales are derived from overseas, and results from last quarter were solid. Taiwan rose 19%, Russia was up 15%, Italy jumped 22% and China leapt 146%.

The U.S. is the company's largest single market and revenue grew 22% last quarter, based largely on the growth of its Latin markets, says Chief Executive Michael Johnson.

"Several factors are driving our growth, such as strong products, business opportunity and our growing brand, which is in front of more people than ever before," Johnson said.

Herbalife's global footprint and distribution base give it a competitive edge. It sells its products in 65 countries and has more than 1.7 million distributors, reflecting an annual increase of 8.6%.

Johnson says direct selling is a prime opportunity for anyone, whether seeking part-time or full-time income. "It's an industry with low startup costs," he said. "There are really no barriers to entry."

Like many direct-selling companies, Herbalife generates significant free cash flow with a modest capital requirement, Lane says. It also paid down more than $300 million in debt from 2004 to 2006.

Herbalife raised its earnings and revenue outlook for 2008. It estimates full-year sales growth of 9% to 11%, while pegging profit at $3.25 to $3.30 a share vs. a prior estimate of $3.17 to $3.23 a share.

The raised guidance signals that Herbalife has the ability to grow despite a sluggish economy and stiff competition from diet food companies such as Weight Watchers International (NYSE:WTW - News) and privately held Jenny Craig.

The outlook also shows that the company's move beyond multivitamins into products like meal replacements and appetite suppressants is working, Lane says.

Herbalife developed a five-point 18owth plan. The first part, distributor strategy, centered on three concepts: recruiting, retailing and retention. Thus far, it has been very successful.

Last year, more than 210,000 new sales leaders joined the company, an increase of 6.6%, while its retention rates were stable at 40%, except in Mexico, Johnson says.

Mexican Growth

Herbalife grew too quickly in Mexico without proper infrastructure, and the region overheated from hypergrowth, Lane says.

With poor distributors and supply-chain problems, the company was forced to retool in the region by launching its nutrition club plan.

"The clubs have fueled greater interaction between distributor and customer as well as a strong brand campaign," Johnson said.

While the clubs promote daily consumption of its products, they also create a comfortable social environment where people can gather and learn about nutrition.

With success in Mexico, the strategy was taken across the border to the U.S. as well as down to Brazil, which has also seen some retrenchment after several years of strong growth.

"We're optimistic about our future in Mexico, as it remains one of our top markets," Johnson said.

Herbalife increased education for its distributors in the regions and opened more sales centers to make its products more accessible to its sellers. After significant slowing in the early part of last year, the plan seems to be working.

The Mexico and Brazil markets had only modest sales declines in the fourth quarter of 1.4% and 2.6%, respectively, which was better than expected, Lane says.

Today, possessing a global footprint in fast-growing regions might be one of the best ways to offset a U.S. economic downturn. Employers in the U.S. have shed payrolls by 85,000 jobs so far in 2008.

"We're in an industry that works in good or bad economic times," Johnson said. "In this case, more people might explore working part time or full time to offset a job loss or for additional income."

The low barriers to entry in this business make it very attractive to those who may not have as much capital as they did a few years back.

"We're very optimistic about our future," Johnson said. "Last year was our best year yet, and we're just getting started."

We were invited by Teresa to join Socrates on Friday for a conversation at Marina Mandarin Hotel on the next day. To be honest, I am so impressed with him after our short 2 hours session! He shared with us on his Central Clubs in Columbia, and on the importance of love and care for club members' health and nutrition rather than clocking volume points & keep recruiting supervisors as main priority! & he told us, that he is so confident, that his Central Club will work so well that his monthly income will grow from USD500,000 to USD 1 million! Cheers to him!

President Team Socrates Valencia's Background

Socrates comes from Colombia; 19 years in business; his main business is in Panama, Colombia and other Latin American countries.

Socrates was looking for ways to increase his business, and in 2005 he went to Mexico to learn first-hand about Nutrition Clubs and the reasons for Mexico’s rapid growth.

After his return from Mexico more than a year ago, his distributors opened 20 home clubs but didn’t know exactly what to do, had no personal experience in opening and developing clubs, while clubs training was practically non-existent. As clubs were developing slowly, most distributors turned to their traditional methods.

So Socrates decided to lead the Clubs himself and opened a Central Club similar to those he saw in Mexico. He rented premises of 358 sq.m in the center of Panama City. The place consists of a large “kitchen” and a large hall.

Together with 25 of his supervisors he started working like crazy from morning till night to fill the Club. As a result, several months later 1,200 people (!) are visiting the Club daily. During this time distributors opened 200 home clubs, and leaders opened 26 Central Clubs - smaller than Socrates' Central Club - with 100-400 people visiting them daily.

To sum up: 1,200 people attend the main Central Club daily, 3,000 people attend 26 smaller Central Clubs, and more than 3,000 people attend 200 home clubs. Altogether more than 7,000 people visit the clubs in Socrates' organization in Panama City daily. And it’s after only 11 months!

At the same time he created a similar system in Colombia, his native country. The Central Club there is visited by 900 people a day, and other Central and home clubs are opened.

Thanks to this system, after 11 months he had new volume of 350,000 v.p., and his royalty check reached 30,000 royalty points (600,000 v.p. in 3 lines).

Distributors working in the Central Club have their own small clubs inside one big Club, but when a new person enters the Club he sees a room full of people which greatly impresses him and he wants to become a part of the environment.

Having worked in the Central Club for 30-90 days, distributors are ready to open their own home clubs, as they now have the necessary experience and their own functioning club in the frame of a large club. So home clubs become easier to open and people achieve success much faster. All home clubs survive, as they are opened by those distributors who work in the Central Club.

Thanks to this system, his royalty check grew from 16,000 to 30,000 royalty points in 11 months!

It’s an obvious truth that after giving birth most women’s bodies make considerable adjustments. Broad hormonal changes are common and mood swings are not unusual. But one thing that many women will focus on (sometimes too much) is losing that weight and body fat gained during pregnancy.

In order to do that safely and in a way that produces beneficial long-term results, take it slow and steady. Weight reduction and regaining muscle tone after birth takes time.

Hype in the media about rapid weight loss after pregnancy is common. Articles are written on celebrity moms that show them making miraculous changes after birth to regain those million dollar figures. They also have very expensive consultants, trainers and money to burn on equipment. The average women could forego a lot of needless guilt by not trying to emulate their results. Instead, focus on what’s normal and average for most new moms.

It generally takes up to 6 months for a woman’s body to return to ‘normal’ after giving birth. Normal, here, just means the average metabolic rate and hormonal amounts that were experienced before conception. In some areas, and to some degree, those norms may never return. Motherhood often produces some permanent changes.

Calorie reduction should not be an overriding concern during a period of breast feeding. Apart from the still-required (though somewhat less) additional amount of energy, the added stress of worrying about weight is not something new mothers need. Night feeding and continual round-the-clock care for a year or more is difficult enough without unnecessary, self-imposed psychological burdens.

For the first few months, the focus should be very much on eating a healthy diet. A 2000 calorie diet that includes 50% carbohydrates, 30% proteins, 10% fat with adequate fiber is a good common sense starting point.Notice the numbers don’t add up to 100%. Every diet should leave some leeway for enjoyment, increase or decrease of the other factors, etc. Going to extremes is the most common mistake most make when considering nutrition.

Moderate exercise is good, but here again the keyword is ‘moderate’. New mothers are busy enough without having to worry about whether they are getting that 5-mile run in every morning. The focus should be on gradually increasing stamina, tone and overall fitness. The goals should be mood-elevation and general health, not looking like a movie star.

After a few months, the program can be stepped up to desired levels in a graded way. The average gain during pregnancy is between 25-35 lbs and during birth about 12-14 of this is lost immediately. The other 12-21 pounds can be shed over 6-8 months without risk. Take it slow and steady and your results will persist over the long term.

After Supervisor Academy, one of my Massive Action Plan is to conduct roadshow, and Keith and I were honoured to be able to drop by and witness how Irene & Gary conduct their roadshow.

I am so inspired after witnessing their booth. Its simply unbelievable! Now trust me, when our booth (Teresa, Keith, Emile & I) is up in January @ Marine Parade, it is going to be SIMPLY THE BEST! Yeah!

This customer has lost more than 10KGs in past 5 months!

This Supervisor Academy training is one of the best training I ever had in my whole life! Simply unbelievable, Simply awesome!

Day 1 - Registration Day

My good friend, Maverick. For some reason, this Sporean decided to be a Malaysian for a day!

First day was purely registration. Not much training on the first day, other than World Team Training. Though I wasnt qualified for the training, I was lucky to be able to borrow a FM radio from Adrain to "sit in" for the first training!

The first training by Craig and Caroline in World Team Training showed glimpses of how sensational this couple can be! They shared with us the important characteristics of what it takes to be a leader.

Vision. This is the part which I like the most. A leader is one with vision that inspire others to take on this vision as their own. Sight is what you see with your eyes, vision is what you see with your mind.

Mr Walt Disney, founder of The Walt Disney Company, passed away in 1966 before his Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971. During the opening ceremony, a reporter commented," Mrs Walt Disney, it is a pity that Mr Walt Disney is not here today to witness this opening event." Mrs Walt Disney replied," Nope, he had seen this already. Thats the reason why we are here today." Folks, that is the vision.

Attitude. Positive attitude. Solution Oriented. Life is 10% what will happen, and 90% of what you do. People may dream that they will be the next big guy, or find the next big thing. But they do nothing.

Listening. This is something that is very interesting. Always listen, to your downlines, to your customers, to your prospects etc. God gives us 2 ears but 1 mouth, because God wants us to listen more than we talk! Listen to understand, instead of listen to reply.

Consistency. Consistency is the key to success. Will your weight management plan works if you do the shakes once in a blue moon? NO! We need to discipline our emotions and keep doing the things we need to do. Thats is how the 90 days Plan come into picture.

Went out with Keith to meet his Thai friends. It was a great chilling session, and met some great Herbalife young people from Thailand! Omg..cant believe that these group of Thais are so awesome..and it is inspiring to find people from other parts of the world on the same mission as you..to bring nutrition around the world..

I remembered when I joined Herbalife 6 months ago, YY came across to me as a nice sweet girl, and one who is ready to help when I needed support and help! It is definitely an amazing journey for her to reach GET Team in 2 years, from someone who used to hold gun in Cisco to now someone well recognised globally in Herbalife! This is one good story of hard work paid off!

"I used to work as a CISCO officer for 6 years and the company paid me $1000 every month only to carry a gun. In order for me to make $1800 a month, I'll have to work two 12 hours shifts back to back. As a result, I did not have the luxury to enjoy life and cannot afford to do any traveling.

I was introduced to Herbalife through my housemate to lose weight. I lost 4KGS in 1 moth and because of this amazing result, business came naturally. I had lost 12 KGs in total to date. I started doing this business part-time and during my first month without knowing anything, I made $100. This was amazing because I did not have to do extra shifts to generate extra income.

After attending a Supervisor training by Indonesia President Team Fizal, I saw the opportunity in this company and quit my job to do this business full time. I learned that I am responsible for my life and that in this company lives can be changed. In my first month full time, I made $500 while still learning. It was tough but I never stop learning and kept attending all trainings and keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Two years later, I qualified GET Team, my monthly income is around $4000 and I also have the opportunity to travel to many countries that I have never been to. I am very grateful that I have made the right choice to choose Herbalife as my career and I am sure more incredible things will come as long as I do not give up.
